This is another image captured at the San Diego Zoo. The monkey was climbing to the top of its enclosure, and looked towards its objective and the sunlight that awaited it.

Squirrels were some of my favorite animals to watch growing up. They have such wonderful personalities and are quite inquisitive. In this shot, the squirrel is both curious by our late family's dog, and taunting towards him.

While visiting Florida, I happened across this beautiful doe wondering around. This photo was taken as I was learning photography, and seeing such a rare sight (at least for someone who grew up in DFW Texas) was a special treat. True to their nature, the flighty creature leapt away right after I got this picture. D'oh!

The University of North Texas campus is known for its abundance of squirrels. While I could never find the ever-elusive Lucky the Squirrel, an albino squirrel, I did enjoy capturing pictures of many squirrely friends. This one was taken shortly before an event I photographed. The image has a slight purple color to it because the sun was setting and it created a very pleasant hue. This squirrel was particularly interested, I think, in the snack I was trying to finish before the event.

Chameleons are a hard find, though this one couldn't be bothered to move from its spot when I found it. Its demeanor as chill as its appearance, it made for a great photo subject. The detail in its scales, horns, and slight grin makes this a classic picture in the portfolio. The slow shutter speed required, given the conditions the photo was taken in, involved a very steady hand to avoid motion blur.

I took this photo at an aquarium with some level of difficulty due to not-ideal lighting circumstances. Still, I knew I had to try because this little fella was begging to be photographed. It stuck its tentacle to the glass wall and almost seemed to pose for me. Thank you friend!

Pandas are the cute, cuddly creatures we know and love... except when it comes to dinner time. Those suckers rip into some bamboo faster than you can say "yikes"! This fella was enjoying a midday meal when I got this shot.

In Hawaii, there are very strict rules when it comes to engaging with the natural wildlife, particularly when it comes to their turtles. All rules were followed in the taking of this picture. There were a few resting turtles on this beach when the photo was taken, one even got washed with a rising tide! These adorable creatures needed to be photographed and I enjoyed every second of that adventure.

No, I didn't go diving for this photo. This was shot through the glass at an aquarium. The unique shape and vibrant color of this seahorse caught my attention. The conditions were less than ideal for any kind of photography, but the final result was absolutely worth the work that went into it.
140mm, 1/80 sec., f/5.6, ISO 6400
Giraffes are fascinating due to their massive height and unique fur patterns. I captured this photo at a zoo, and the giraffe's face is wonderfully framed by the branches and trees in the background. I'm just glad I didn't need a ladder to get the shot!

While trudging through a creekbed, I happened across this snake resting on a tree. I almost missed it, given how well it blended in with the tree in the shade. After getting through the initial shock of how close I was to the snake, who was looking at me very intently, I snapped a quick shot.
200mm, 1/320 sec., f/2.8, ISO 100
This shot was taken in the creek near our childhood home and shows two turtles swimming in murky waters (though not murky enough to hide their little feet treading water). The turtle on the right appeared to be following the turtle on the left, and may have been the left turtle's offspring. If you look closely, you can also see a potential snack on the right-hand side of the picture.

This was an early shot in my photography career, taken at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. This bison was enjoying a leisurely walk when I captured this photo.

An early shot in my photography career, I was stared down by a croc in Florida waters. Needless to say, I took my picture and expeditiously excused myself from the situation. The details in the crocodile's face and the ridges on his back is enough to send chills down my spine to this day.
