My photography career began while working with the Fossil Ridge High School yearbook in the Keller Independent School District. There, I learned photography techniques and camera basics. I had the best teachers, in the classroom and through my experiences. I would eventually become Photography Editor, then an Editor-In-Chief of the Yearbook. This experience was invaluable for learning how to see the world beyond my own lens, and to see it through the lens in my camera. This time in my photography career was marked by a sports and event photography specialization.
My photography interests did not stop upon high school graduation. While attending college at Tarrant County College, and eventually the University of North Texas, my extracurricular activities opened avenues for photography in new ways. While serving in community service and representation roles, I provided my photography skills to the organizations I joined. In doing so, I learned how to use my photography skills to advocate for important issues. While at the University of North Texas, I frequently took pictures for offices that specialized in representation of various communities, such as the Pride Alliance and the Latinx/Hispanic Student Union.
Upon reaching my senior year at the University of North Texas, I gained valuable leadership experience as the President of the undergraduate Student Body, and the President of the National Society of Leadership and Success, UNT Chapter. In both of these roles, I used my photography to serve the organizations I led. I never stopped being "that guy with a camera", and that was a title I proudly held. In these roles, I continued my photography experience to advocate for others while also serving as the photographer and portrait-taker for the organizations I served in.
Upon graduation at the University of North Texas, I gained work as a Council Assistant, and eventually Policy Analyst, at the City of Dallas. In this role, I have used my photography skills to advocate for the District I work in, and to advocate for the communities in that District. Outside of that work, I continue to take photos in my free time of the wild world as I see it.
Throughout my other pursuits in life, my passion for photography has never died (even if the time to do it dwindled). This website is not only a curation of my work, it's a curation of my experiences. This website is a living time capsule of the many great places I have gone, all the many great places I will go, and all the memories in between. I hope you enjoy these photos, and those experiences, as much as I have. I continue to support this website and photography efforts in addition to my full-time job.
